NEWB – A term used to describe a inexperienced gamer/person/etc. Unlike a noob, a newb is someone who actually wants to get better.

In 2009, I decided that there should be a place where people can enjoy gaming news and reviews without feeling excluded because they’re “newbs”.  He started a small blog on wordpress and invited like-minded gamers with a flair for writing to join him.  The blog went from strength to strength, expanding beyond its initial home on wordpress.com and growing into a successful video game website, boasting tens of thousands of unique visitors a day.

Although there was no Yoko, the band began to split up and eventually newbreview.com was put to rest in 2014.

So my name is Steve Garrett, I used to go by the username “kamiza”.  I’m in my early 40’s, I’m married with two teenage daughters.  I have a very intense, stressful job with a major UK airline, so you can probably understand the need to have some outlet for stress.  I teach Judo and study Brazilian Jujitsu, I’ve been on the mat for nearly 35 years and fighting is my first passion.  Unfortunately over 3 decades of martial arts have taken its toll, so I can’t roll with the same intensity that I used to.  So although Judo and BJJ are a great stress relief, I find myself turning back to my playstation for respite.  I’ve missed writing about games, so I thought I would rekindle the newbreview, in a much more relaxed format.

So here we are.  newbreview on wordpress is NOT going to be the newbreview.com of a few years ago.  It’s going to be more relaxed, general musings about games and other pop-culture stuff.  You’ll probably hate it but I’m not doing it for you.  I’m doing it for me.  No offense or anything 😉
